Overview :

The Eaton PDU1230 is a basic single‑phase power distribution unit (PDU) intended for IT, networking, telecom, and edge environments requiring simple AC power distribution. It’s deployed by data center operators, network engineers, and facilities teams to aggregate and deliver branch‑circuit AC power to multiple devices without advanced metering or switching functions. Its design solves the need for reliable, continuous rack power distribution from a single 30 A feed.

Rated for up to ~5.8 kW of output across 20 outlets, the PDU1230 accepts 200–240 V AC input via a NEMA L6‑30P plug on a 15 ft (4.6 m) attached cord. It supports typical IT load requirements with (16) IEC‑320‑C13 and (4) IEC‑320‑C19 receptacles.

In rack deployments, this unit occupies 1U of EIA‑310 standard 19‑inch space. It can be mounted horizontally in the rack, or with optional hardware adapted for vertical 0U installation, wall‑mount, or under‑counter scenarios, making it flexible for network closets, IDF/MDF rooms, and edge racks.

Integration is basic — there is no network management or outlet switching. The PDU1230 distributes utility, generator, or UPS‑sourced AC power and uses built‑in circuit breakers for overload protection. It does not interface with DCIM platforms or provide SNMP/HTTP management.

A practical deployment is a branch office rack fed from a single 30 A breaker where server, switch, and storage loads need consolidated AC distribution. This PDU delivers hard‑wired distribution without metering or switching complexity. It is not suitable where outlet‑level metering, remote control, or dual‑feed redundancy is required (e.g., A/B UPS dual‑feed PDUs). Such environments require managed PDUs with network connectivity and independent feed paths.
