StarTech IMC1GSFP Industrial Gigabit Fiber Media Converter with Open SFP Slot
Overview :
The StarTech IMC1GSFP is a commercial-grade, hardened fiber media converter designed for transparent conversion between 10/100/1000Base-T copper and 1000Base-X fiber-optic networks. It is utilized by systems integrators and network engineers to extend Ethernet links beyond the 100-meter copper limit in harsh industrial environments like factories, warehouses, and outdoor surveillance hubs.
Technically, the unit features an open SFP slot, allowing for maximum flexibility to use any MSA-compliant single-mode, multi-mode, or WDM SFP transceiver. It is engineered for reliability in extreme conditions, supporting an MTBF of over 500,000 hours and featuring Level-4 ESD protection (8kV contact / 15kV air). The device supports Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP), which ensures that link failures on one side of the converter are communicated to the other, preventing data loss in redundant network topologies.
Deployment is optimized for industrial enclosures via the integrated DIN-rail mount or optional wall-mount brackets. The converter utilizes a redundant terminal block power input (12V to 56V DC) to ensure uptime during primary power failures. With an IP30-rated aluminum housing and a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to 75°C), this device is built for locations where standard networking hardware would fail.
