This module is a direct replacement for the Aruba JL486A, specifically engineered as a 1000BASE-BX-D (Downstream) transceiver. It is an essential component for telecommunications and enterprise environments looking to maximize existing fiber infrastructure by utilizing Bi-Directional (BiDi) technology.
Operating at a 1490nm transmit wavelength and 1310nm receive wavelength, this transceiver supports high-speed data transmission over single-mode fiber (SMF) at distances up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). By transmitting and receiving on different wavelengths over a single fiber strand, it allows network administrators to double the capacity of their fiber plant without laying new cable.
