Overview
The APC AP7820B is a metered rack power distribution unit engineered to distribute 208 V / 230 V AC power with real‑time load measurement. IT infrastructure and data center power teams use this PDU where visibility into rack‑level current, voltage, and power consumption is required to monitor capacity utilization and avoid overload conditions that can disrupt equipment operation. Its metered architecture provides aggregated metering data rather than outlet switching or sequenced control.
Configured for 200 V, 208 V, or 230 V input, the AP7820B supports a maximum total load of approximately 2300 VA and allows up to 12 A at 208 V or 10 A at 230 V. Power is distributed through eight IEC 60320 C13 outlets sized for rack‑mount equipment power cords. Local LED indicators and current metering help teams detect approaching circuit limits before a trip event occurs, improving rack power planning and resource allocation.
The unit’s 1U horizontal rackmount form factor integrates seamlessly into standard 19‑inch server cabinets, IDF/MDF closets, and enterprise or colocation rack environments where space efficiency and organized power distribution are important. A cord retention bracket and included mounting hardware help secure cabling and simplify installation.
Local aggregated metering provides visibility into overall rack draw; specific remote management interfaces vary by configuration and deployment environment. This PDU does not include UPS functionality or battery backup — it should be paired with upstream uninterruptible power systems if continuity through utility outages is required.
