Eaton 9PX5K – Online UPS 5000VA
Overview
The Eaton 9PX5K is a double-conversion online uninterruptible power supply engineered for high-demand IT environments that require continuous, conditioned power. It is deployed by data center operators, network architects, and IT engineers to protect critical rack-mounted servers, storage arrays, and networking equipment from voltage fluctuations, frequency deviations, and full utility outages.
This UPS delivers 5000VA / 4500W of output capacity with a unity power factor, providing a stable true sine wave output suitable for modern active PFC loads. It supports single-phase 200–240V input with selectable output voltages and includes input and output connectors compatible with IEC and NEMA standards. The system maintains ±1% voltage regulation under full load and employs internal bypass to ensure continuous operation during maintenance or internal fault conditions.
The 9PX5K is optimized for deployment in 19-inch rack infrastructures at IDF/MDF rooms, branch office data closets, and small to medium-sized data center racks. Its 2U rack form factor allows installation alongside servers, PDUs, and network switches while preserving space in high-density cabinets.
Integration into Eaton’s management ecosystem is provided through the MiniSlot expansion interface, supporting network, relay, and Modbus communication cards. The UPS also includes USB and RS-232 ports for direct system integration and supports centralized monitoring and shutdown through Eaton Intelligent Power Software, enabling coordinated shutdown in virtualized and physical IT environments.
In practical deployment, the 9PX5K supports multiple 1U/2U servers, storage devices, and network switches within a single rack, providing sufficient runtime to bridge short-duration power outages or enable controlled shutdown. Multiple output groups allow prioritization of critical devices when operating on battery.
This UPS is not intended for three-phase input environments, parallel UPS configurations, or low-load applications where online efficiency overhead is unnecessary. Deployments exceeding 4500W without external battery expansion are also outside recommended usage.
