Overview:

The Opengear OM2224-24E-DDC is a high-density NetOps console server from the OM2200 series, integrating a 24-port console server with a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch. It is designed for secure out-of-band (OOB) management and network automation in enterprise data centers and high-density colocation facilities.

Network engineers and data center operations teams use this appliance to maintain resilient, secure remote access to critical infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls) during primary network outages. The OM2224-24E-DDC features 24 software-selectable RJ45 RS-232 serial ports, 24 integrated Gigabit Ethernet switch ports, and dual 1GbE SFP uplink ports for management network connectivity. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core AMD GX-412TC processor with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and 64 GB of SSD storage, supporting advanced automation via Docker, Python, Ruby, Perl, and Bash.

Deployment is in a 1U rack-mountable form factor with redundant dual DC power inputs (designated by the “-DDC” suffix) for -40V to -72V DC environments. Security features include TPM 2.0, secure boot, embedded firewall, IPSec/OpenVPN, and AAA support (TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP). This unit is designed for mission-critical data center environments requiring DC power. It is not suitable for AC-only facilities or deployments requiring 10 GbE uplinks (models with “-10G” suffix).
