Overview
The Eaton N784-MDC-6SCSC is a 100 Mbps fiber optic media converter designed for extending and converting multimode-to-singlemode SC fiber links in enterprise, campus, and telecom network environments. It is used where legacy or structured SC duplex fiber infrastructure must be extended across long-distance singlemode backbones.
The device supports SC duplex interfaces and provides transparent fiber conversion for 10/100/1000 network environments on the electrical side, while operating at 100 Mbps fiber mode conversion. It is commonly deployed in data center interconnects, campus backbone extensions, and industrial network links requiring fiber reach beyond standard Ethernet limitations.
With support for distances up to 60 km depending on fiber and optics configuration, it enables long-range optical transport without requiring active switching infrastructure. LED indicators provide real-time status for power, link, and fault diagnostics, simplifying field troubleshooting in rack or shelf installations.
The unit is housed in a rugged metal enclosure for continuous operation in controlled IT environments. It is not designed for Gigabit or SFP-based architectures and should only be used in 100 Mbps SC-based fiber deployments where compatibility is confirmed.
